Questions & promises

Everything you need to know before you begin — the practical answers, and the promises that matter when you're entrusting us with your wedding.

The keepsake
What exactly is a Vow Bindery edition?
A hand-bound keepsake shaped like a fine book that opens as a clutch. Your surnames are foil-stamped as the title, your portrait and vow are held inside, and a gilded tag opens a private digital vault. Each wedding is issued as a numbered set — a copy for everyone who made the day.
Is this for every couple?
Yes — every couple, every love. Two brides, two grooms, one of each, or however you name yourselves: your edition is built entirely around your names, your roles, and the people who matter to you. Nothing here assumes what your wedding looks like. If it's yours, it belongs here.
Is it a real, usable bag?
Yes. Beneath the keepsake craft it's a functional clutch — a lined cavity for a phone, cards, and the essentials, with a magnetic flap and a detachable chain. It's made to be carried on the day and kept forever after.
What goes inside it?
A recessed photo well holds one to three printed portraits; a letterpress card carries your vow or a private note; and a discreet gilded tag opens your Bindery Vault. The higher editions add embroidery, silk lining, and a wax-sealed colophon.
What is the Bindery Vault?
A private web page your edition unlocks — the endless album behind the keepsake. It holds your full gallery, your first-dance film, the day's playlist, and a place for guests to leave notes. The printed keepsake holds what should be touched; the Vault holds what should be endless.
Can I have a themed edition?
Yes — we offer seven signature themed worlds (celestial, fairytale, frontier, gothic and more), and we design bespoke themes to your own brief. Themed editions carry a modest design premium. See the Theme Gallery to find your world.
Ordering & the set
How does the batch / set work?
You author the shared design once — cover, portrait, vow — then add a copy for each person, each numbered and named for their role (the two of you, your parents, your closest people). About 90% is shared across the set; the personal touches are the rest. You approve a single proof, and we bind the whole edition together.
Is there a minimum order?
Every edition begins at a set of four copies, whichever tier you choose. Most couples order a set that covers themselves plus the people closest to the day — often six to eight copies. There's no maximum; we've built editions for whole wedding parties.
How much does it cost?
Editions are priced per copy: The Keepsake at $250, The Vow Edition at $390, and The Heirloom at $550. You choose one tier for your whole set. Founding couples receive our lowest pricing ever.
How long does it take?
We build a four-to-six week bindery lead time around your wedding date. Because each edition is hand-bound, the earlier you begin, the safer your date. We'll always confirm a timeline before you commit.
Your photos & personalization
How do I get my photos to you?
Through our simple 'Begin your edition' flow — you upload your portraits and type your vow directly. If you'd rather send them another way, just ask; we're flexible.
What if my wedding hasn't happened yet?
Many couples begin before the day using engagement photos, then send wedding portraits after. We can also design everything and slot in the final images once they're ready — we'll find the timing that works for your date.
Can each copy be different?
The set shares one cover design, but each copy is numbered and named for its keeper, and each can carry its own private note. It's how the edition stays unified but personal.
Care, changes & the unexpected
What if there's a mistake on my proof?
Nothing is bound until you approve your proof — so please read it carefully. If we make an error against your approved proof, we correct it at no cost. Changes you request after approval may affect timing and cost, but we'll always talk it through first.
What if it arrives late or damaged?
A keepsake should never let you down. If a delivery is delayed or arrives damaged through our fault, we'll make it right — a remake, a repair, or a resolution we agree on together. Reach us any time at hello@thevowbindery.com.
How do I care for it?
Keep it dry and out of direct sun, as you would a fine book. The Vault link inside lasts as long as your subscription (a year included on the higher editions, renewable after).

Our promises to you

Privacy of your wedding & photos

Your wedding is yours. Any photographs, words, and personal details you share with us are used only to design and make your edition and your Bindery Vault. We never sell, share, or publish your images or details without your explicit permission. If you'd like us to feature your edition in our portfolio or on social media, we'll always ask first — and a "no" is completely fine.

We store your uploads securely and delete them on request once your edition is complete. Your Bindery Vault is private to your edition, reachable only through the link inside your keepsakes.

Deposits, payment & cancellation

Because each edition is made to order, we ask for a deposit to begin and the balance before delivery. If you need to cancel before we've begun binding, we'll refund what's fair given the design work completed. Once an edition is bound with your names and photos, it can't be resold, so late cancellations are limited — we'll always explain clearly before you commit.

Exact deposit and cancellation terms are confirmed in writing before your order begins.

Our craft commitment

Every edition is hand-finished and inspected before it leaves the bindery. If it doesn't meet the standard you saw and approved, we'll make it right. We'd rather delay and get it perfect than send something we're not proud of.

Still have a question? We'd love to answer it. Write to hello@thevowbindery.com — a real person (often the founder) reads every note.
